With an impressive filmography which boasts of some electric performances and cult characters, Manoj Bajpayee has carved out his own niche in the Hindi film industry. He is perhaps the only Bollywood actor whose unsuccessful movies have contributed as much to his career as his successful offerings. Despite lacking the so-called leading-man look, a prerequisite to making it big in the look-obsessed show business, Manoj has left an indelible mark on his audience’s mind and enjoys an enviable fan following.
We have seen it more often than not that after a period, many movie stars take a dive into politics. Their massive fan following, popularity and goodwill help them to gain their footing in the volatile world of politics.
But Bajpayee seems to have no such plans. He does not have an ounce of interest in the slimy world of politics. In our recent interview with the versatile actor, when we asked him if he would ever enter politics, he summed up his reply in just a couple of simple words.
“No, never. I am never going to join politics.”
When asked why he does not want to join politics despite the fact that he can make a change to the society with his contribution as a politician, the National Film Award-winning actor says:
“No, you can’t. In this corrupt kind of a society, I don’t think you can make any kind of change. If you are going to be a part of this politics, you are going to be a part of this system, and this system never lets you change anything. I don’t want to be a part of this system of winning elections which becomes your prime concern and agenda. This kind of politics is not for me for sure.”
After receiving praises for his performance in the Milap Milan Zaveri-directed film Satyamev Jayate, Manoj Bajpayee will next be seen in psychological drama Gali Guleiyan. Helmed by debutant Dipesh Jain, the film begins its run in cinemas on 7th September.
