Some series of events seem too bizarre for human understanding. One such incident took place in England when a man stood up on his feet after being hit by an out-of-control bus. People may call it a miracle, luck, or divine intervention, but the CCTV footage of the accident is a spectacle.
Simon Smith was walking down Gun Street in Reading when a double-decker bus came in full speed around the corner and hit him from behind. Simon, a 53-year-old man, fell at least 20 ft ahead. Surprisingly, he did not sustain any major injuries and walked away with only a few bruises.
The CCTV footage of the accident, which shows a purple bus hitting a pedestrian with full force, but the man getting up calmly and walking into a pub called Purple Turtle right next to him has since gone viral. An ambulance was later called for a medical checkup of the victim.
Daniel Freifeld, co-owner of the Purple Turtle, told the Mail Online,
He got looked over and didn’t have any lasting injuries – but he’s covered in scrapes and bruises.
He then got released from the hospital and I think he just went for a pint to relax.
There was another person who got injured by debris. The bus involved in the accident was from Reading Buses. A spokesman said in the light of events,
We are obviously shocked by the incident as well as the very graphic footage that has been shared a number of times. Thankfully, the pedestrian does not have any major injuries and there were no major injuries to passengers on the bus.
The incident is the subject of an ongoing internal investigation as well as an investigation by the police with whom we are working and sharing footage from our onboard CCTV. So it would be inappropriate for us to comment or speculate on this until it has run its course.
The street was later closed to investigate the unique case. So far, no one has been arrested. Smith later shared his feelings about the accident and said that he was lucky to be alive.
