What if you walk past your bathroom or toilet and found some strange thing which can scare the hell out of you? What will you do in that situation? This is what exactly happened to a Virginia Beach resident named James Hooper who walked past his bathroom and noticed a strange thing out of the corner of his eye. He saw a large snake in the toilet slithering out of it.
“I was standing by the bathroom door, the [toilet] lid was up, and I noticed it out of the corner of my eye. At first, I thought someone was pranking me… until I saw it move,” Hooper told The Dodo.
According to Mr. Hooper, the snake in the toilet was two and a half to three feet long, and about four inches thick at the thickest part.
Not knowing at the time what kind of snake it was, Hooper and his roommate, Kenny Spruill, hatched a plan to safely collect the reptile from the toilet. To do that, they cast a piece of looped fishing line around the animal from a distance and reeled it in just enough to pull it out.
In the meantime, Hooper and his roommate called animal control to help them sort out what to do next. It was the officer, who identified the snake as a ball python — a non-venomous species often kept as a pet.
As it turns out, the snake did, in fact, belong to someone who Hooper said live about three miles away from his residence. He said that, apparently, the pet had been missing for two weeks.
Meanwhile, after this wild encounter, Hooper has an important life lesson that’ll stay with him wherever he goes, and that is “Look before you sit.”
