The final draft of the National Registrar of Citizens (NRC) has been released by the state government in Assam. Apparently, out of the 3.29 crore people who applied to be included in the list, 40 lakh people were declared ineligible for inclusion. It means they cannot be considered as citizens of India. However, only a day after the publication of the much-anticipated final draft, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed her discontent.
While addressing a conference in the national capital, she expressed her agitation about not finding the names of the family members of the former President of India Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed in the NRC Assam list. Trinamool Congress Chief also mentioned about many other names missing from the list. Evidently, the publication of the final draft of Assam’s NRC list has sparked a political uproar in the country.
Furthermore, on a surprising turn of events, Mamata Banerjee slammed the BJP-led government accusing the saffron party of using the policy of ‘divide and rule’ in their governance. Later, she emphasized the importance of unity and diversity in India.
While addressing the conclave, Banerjee thrashed BJP by saying:
“More than 40 lakh people voted yesterday for the ruling party and suddenly that have been made refugees in their own country. The NRC is being done with a political motive and we will not let this happen. They (BJP) are trying to divide the people of this country. The situation like this cannot be tolerated. There will be a civil war and bloodbath in the country.”
Later Mamata Banerjee further added:
Advertisement“All citizens are entitled to stay in their country. Something dangerous happened in Jharkhand may happen in Bihar, UP, Rajasthan, Haryana Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand (BJP-ruled states)… but we won’t let this happen in West Bengal. It won’t happen in Karnataka or Andhra Pradesh either.”
To everyone’s amazement, BJP President Amit Shah forcefully rejected all the allegations by Mamata Banerjee, as well as, of the opposition leaders suggestion that the NRC list is of national interest and for the security of the Indians.
While the opposition has launched a ferocious attack on the BJP government, Amit Shah tried to assert that the BJP party is prioritizing the national security with the NRC draft while throwing out all the illegal Bangladeshis from the country.
While condemning TMC Chief for her warning on the bloodbath and civil war, Amit Shah said:
“The threat of civil war has already once divided this country. What is she trying to say? Trinamool Congress should come forward and clear its stand on the issue. TMC Chief is trying to mislead the people of the country.”
Well, evidently, this cold war has caught the attention of the Twitterati and they have posted their opinions on the issue. Check out some of the best responses:
When the CM of a state talks about ‘Civil War’, it is time for President’s Rule in that state with that leader put on trial. What a shame, Mamata Banerjee.

Out of fear?!
Mamata Banerjee is dealing with weak Hindus of West Bengal who don’t have guts to stand for their right but run away to Mumbai, Delhi etc. out of fear of Mamata hitler. We Indians are not afraid of any civil war and we will fight till end… Jai Hind

Well!
Don’t let fools like Mamata Banerjee or other politicians deviate the issue of NRC. It is NOT about Hindu, Muslim, Bengalis, Gujaratis, Kannadigas etc! It’s about ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS!!

Apparently, a police complaint has been filed against Mamata Banerjee for instigating ‘hate and terror’ among various communities in the country. It was filed by three workers of the BJP’s youth wing in Assam’s Dibrugarh area.
