The country has recently witnessed what a kin politician’s corruption charges can do to even a well entrenched political leader. The incident of Tejashwi Yadav’s land deals and corruption charges broke apart the political ambitions and achievements of father Lalu Prasad Yadav. And now it seems, there is another similar situation in the making in neighborhood of Bihar.
Mamata Banerjee’s nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, who is presently serving West Bengal as the Member of Parliament from Diamond Harbor Lok Sabha constituency seems to be in trouble.
Times Now has reported that it has accessed a series of documents that indicate that Abhishek Banerjee’s company, Leaps and Bounds Private Limited, received payments from an estate agent named Raj Kishore Modi. The documents reveal that Modi has invested over Rs. 1 crore in Banerjee’s company.
It is important to note that Raj Kishore Modi is under probe for crimes that include attempt to murder and land grabbing. Also, at the time when the payment in the form of commission was made, Abhishek was one of the listed directors of the company.
The documents expose some more facts about the association between Raj Kishore Modi and Abhishek Banerjee. One of them is that the two were associated with a chartered accountant named Ashok Tulsiyan in the 2012 and 2013. Tulsiyan is one of the director of Modi’s enterprise, Green Tech City Private Limited, and also an auditor of Abhishek Banerjee’s Leaps and Bounds Private Limited.
Ironically, Mamata Banerjee had protested against Raj Kishore Banerjee in 2009 and demanded his arrest for the above allegations. Unfortunately, as per documents, the directors of Abhishek Banerjee’s company, which include his wife, stay in Mamata Banerjee’s residence in Kolkata.
