‘Till death do us apart’- these five powerful words couldn’t have made more sense than today.
Major Sathish Dahiya made the supreme sacrifice and attained martyrdom fighting militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Handwara district earlier this week.
Belonging to a modest family in Haryana’s Baniwadi village, Major Dahiya is survived by a wife, Sujata and their adorable two-year-old daughter.
For the third wedding anniversary, Major Dahiya had sent flowers, cake, candles and a card to his beloved wife Sujata. The anniversary gifts reached to his grieving wife hours after news of his death.
Today, had he been alive, the couple would have been celebrating their third anniversary.
Holding the precious gifts close to her, the grieving wife said:
It reached me after he died. He left a greeting for me which read, ‘I love you Poocha, you are my inspiration’, Satish.
Fighting back the tears, Sujata Dahiya said that she is extremely proud of her husband.
Hundreds of villagers attended Major Dahiya’s funeral in Baniwadi . Major Dahiya’s father looked at his brave son for the last time while his two-year-old daughter and cousins lit the pyre.
Rajesh Dahiya, a cousin of Major Dahiya, said remembering their conversation:
