The nation-wide lockdown where the general public has been advised to stay home and in quarantine has left many of us with a lot of free time to spare. The entertainment channels have been generous to have been telecasting old and popular series, especially classics like B. R. Chopra’s Mahabharat. It is an Indian mythological television series that first aired in the year 1988 and became a household staple.

Even after decades, the show is being enjoyed with the same popularity and enthusiasm as it was enjoyed before. Wondering how the cast looks now and what they have been up to? Read on to know details.

 

1. Mukesh Khanna as Bhishma

Mukesh Khanna portrayed the role of Bhishma in the series which was also one of the lead roles in the show. After Mahabharat, Mukesh Khanna acted in several series and films, the most popular one being – Shaktimaan. He also has his own YouTube channel named Bheeshm International.

2. Nitish Bharadwaj as Lord Krishna

Nitish Bharadwaj portrayed the role of Lord Krishna in the show Mahabharat. It was Lord Krishna who had guided the Pandavas during the course of the war with the Kauravas and was an important one in the series. Post the series, Nitish Bharadwaj has acted in several series and films as well as has worked in theatre, radio and television. He was also a former member of Lok Sabha.

3. Roopa Ganguly as Draupadi

Roopa Ganguly played the character of Draupadi who was married to the five Pandavas and was the female lead in the show. It was Draupadi, one of the main reasons, why the battle of Mahabharat took place between Pandavas and Kauravas in the first place. Roopa Ganguly has always been a well-known personality in the Indian film industry and is currently a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha.

4. Puneet Issar as Duryodhan

Puneet Issar played one of the most powerful roles in Mahabharat – Duryodhan. He was last seen in the Bigg Boss house and has been active with theatre across the country.

5. Gajendra Chauhan as Yudhishthir

Gajendra Chauhan played the role of Yudhisthir in Mahabharata, the eldest of the five Pandavas. This was also his first break. Post the series, he went on to do many films and shows and was also appointed as the Chairman of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).

6. Pankaj Dheer as Karna

Karna was one of the main characters of Mahabharat and was portrayed by Pankaj Dheer. He was the son of Soorya and Kunti. Pankaj Dheer is quite a popular Indian actor who has appeared in many Hindi films and television series. He was last seen in television series “Badho Bahu”.

7. Surendra Pal as Dronacharya

Surendra Pal played the role of Dronacharya who was the guru of Arjun in Mahabharata. He has been active in the film and television industry since then.

8. Firoz Khan as Arjun

One of the most loved characters, Firoz Khan played the role of Arjun in the show Mahabharat. While this was a positive character, however, Firoz Khan is known for essaying negative roles in films.

9. Raj Babbar as Raja Bharat

Veteran actor Raj Babbar played the solid role of King Bharat, the father of the five Pandavas. Raj Babbar is a seasoned actor and has many films to his credit, and is also actively involved in Indian politics.
