Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar on June 10 was awarded the Bharat Gaurav Award at the United Nations Hall in New York.

The award, which was instituted by Jaipur’s Sanskriti Yuva Sanstha, is a Lifetime Achievement award that is presented to outstanding professional, technocrats and business persons of India each year.
The institution conferred Bhandarkar with this year’s award for making socially relevant films like ‘Traffic Signal’, ‘Chandni Bar’, ‘Fashion’ and ‘Page 3’.
While Bhandarkar was honored to get the recognition he chose to dedicate it to the “Pride” of the nation, the Indian Army, and their families.

Besides Bhandarkar, other honorees to be awarded this year were spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and late astronaut Kalpana Chawla.
