The phrase ‘ageing like wine’ is often used to describe beautiful girls who grow up to be equally graceful women. Some of these women include actresses from yesteryear who ruled the industry and gave many iconic movies in their career span. However, they have aged now and most would be hardly identifiable as they have been away from movies and are now lost faces.
Take a look at 14 such actresses:
We remember her most for “Nagin’. Her other iconic roles include movies like Sangam, Naya Daur, Madhumati and many more. Today though, we would find it difficult to identify her as the same beautiful actress who gave us many movies to hold dear forever.
2. Rakhee Gulzar
Known for her iconic roles as a leading lady in movies like Kabhie Kabhie, Kasme Vaade, Jeevan Mrityu and then later as a mother in movies like Karan Arjun, Rakhee has been lost from the silver screen since sometime now. She looks quite different from what we remember through her last on-screen appearance.
3. Jaya Bachchan
Jaya was last seen in Kal Ho Naa Ho as Preeti Zinta’s mother but she will be remembered for being a major part of many iconic movies like Sholay, Silsila, Guddi, Abhimaan and many others. Though she has aged very gracefully, Jaya Bachchan looks very different from her beautiful younger self.
4. Salma Agha
Salma Agha‘s cat eyes were a sensation in Bollywood in the 70s. She gave many hit movies such as Nikaah, Salma, Kasam Paida Karne Waale Ki and many more. Though her eyes remain the same, the face looks very different from the beautiful younger version of her.
5. Sharmila Tagore
One of the best actresses of her generation, Sharmila Tagore gave Bollywood some great movies like Aradhana, Amar Prem, Safar, Kashmir Ki Kali and many more. Sharmila looks very different from her youthful days now. She was last seen in Break ke Baad in 2010.
6. Zeenat Aman
The most glamorous and bold actress of her generation, Zeenat gave us many roles and movies to remember her including Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Qurbani, Don, Hare Rama Hare Krishna and many more. Today though, she is hardly identifiable as the same actress.
7. Hema Malini
She will forever be remembered as Bollywood’s ‘Dreamgirl‘. Her many iconic movies include Sholay, Dream Girl, Seeta Aur Geeta, Kranti, Naseeb and many more. Her last memorable performance was opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Baghban. Though still beautiful, she looks very different from her younger version.
8. Sonam Trivedi
9. Jaya Prada
Another Jaya that ruled the silverscreen during the 80s and 90s was Jaya Prada. She gave us memorable movies like Tohfa, Sanjog, Maa and many more. Though today she hardly look the way she did then.
10. Reena Roy
Many compare today’s Sonakshi to yesteryears’ Reena Roy in terms of how they look. But the fact remains that Reena herself looks very different from what she looked in iconic movies like Arpan, Aasha, Jaani Dushman and many more.
11. Anita Raj
Naukar Biwi Ka, Prem Geet, Ilzaam and Ghulami are part of Anita Raj’s successful filmi career. But lately she has been lost and also would be unidentifiable as the same beauty who stole hearts through major roles in these and many other Bollywood blockbusters.
She has often been called the ‘ageless beauty’ or ‘timeless beauty’ as she still looks quite beautiful. However, she looks different from her younger self and we hate to admit that she too has been lost from the silver screen since a while now.
13. Moushumi Chatterjee
Her smile was something of an enigma back then and she ruled people’s hearts. Her successful movies include Manzil, Benaam, Do Premee, Angoor and many more. She was last seen in Piku but has been lost since sometime from the silverscreen.
14. Sadhana Shivdasani
The ‘Sadhana’ cut was a rave back then because of her. Her iconic roles and movies include Woh Kaun Thi, Mera Saaya, Waqt and many more. She would hardly be rocognized as an aged lady because she looked very different and had been lost from the industry long before she passed away in 2015.
Looking at these photographs, one thing we can realize is that things like ‘beauty’ ‘fame’ or even ‘success’ does not last forever; despite your riches and your status.
