After claiming that Ishrat Jahan, was a LeT suicide bomber, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative David Coleman Headley has now said that the terrorist organization in the past had also tried to kill late Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray.
Headley made the disposition in front of Mumbai court on March 24, and said that though he had“no first-hand knowledge” about it, he was sure an “attempt was made by LeT (Lashkar) to kill Bal Thackeray.”
He further elaborated that the man who made the alleged attempt, was arrested by the Mumbai police but managed to escape later.

“I don’t know how this attempt was made. I think the person (who was sent to kill Thackeray) was arrested but he managed to escape from police custody. I don’t have first-hand knowledge about this though.”
Headley, who is making the disposition as part of a plea bargain with the US, has already testified about his involvement in Mumbai’s 26/11 terror attack.
He concluded by saying that two attempts were made on Thackeray’s life before the 26/11 attacks, and that he was told to target Shiv Sena chief by his LeT handler.
