It was a dark morning when the news of one of the world’s most renowned Dj’s Avicii broke the net. Following this shocking announcement, people were left in complete disbelief and sadness. Tim Berging as his original name goes, left us with a heavy heart wen he passed away following prolonged heath issues. Avicii was last seen holidaying in Muscat where he posed with over-zealous fans.
Earlier in the day, his representative announced that the DJ had passed away. In his statement it read: “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling. He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th”.
As the world comes to grip with this sad news, the circumstances surrounding his sudden death remain unknown at the moment. His family have been left devastated and requested for privacy in their difficult time.
During his career, Avicci was nominated for two Grammy Awards, two MTV Music Awards and one Billboard Music Award. His super hits included Wake Me Up!
In what appears as his ‘final’ photos, he can be seen smiling happily for pictures with excited fans. In one such image, Avicci is seen with his mouth wide open, grinning happily next to a female blonde at a Muscat resort.
The star looked tanned and relaxed and the blonde got another picture clicked with her idol. One can never imagine that these pictures were taken only three days prior to his death.
In a third image, he posed with a man and a woman while wearing a white T-shirt and yellow shorts. These could possibly be the last photographs of Avicii before he died, but this is not confirmed.
After the sad announcement, even the Muscat resort expressed their grief via Instagram. Have a look at their post:
As Muscat Hills Resort, we have been receiving excessive amount of calls and messages with regards to the unfortunate death of Mr. Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii. Due to privacy reasons, we are unable to provide details with regards to any of our guests’ visit or stay, however, all we can confirm is that Avicii did visit Muscat Hills Resort and throughout his visit he was extremely kind to all our staff and acted like any of our regular guests. Avicii definitely did seem to be in good spirits while enjoying his time and he was also very friendly with everyone. As much as we enjoyed his company here at Muscat Hills Resort, we are extremely sad to hear and read all the recent news and therefore we would like to express our sincere condolences to his family, friends and all his fans. We will be dedicating our coming Beats by the Beach party on 27th April 2018 in memory of Avicii and have our Bay Lights on throughout the night to keep his spirit. Thank you and kind regards, Muscat Hills Resort Management #avicii #rip #youwillbemissed #restinpeace #ripavicii #aviciiforever #djavicii #oman #omannews #aviciifan #aviciithebest
Since his death, the world and music community have poured their heart out. The first one to share his sadness was fellow DJ Calvin Harris in this tweet:
In his last tweet, Avicii looked concerned about his alcohol addiction and hoped it won’t impact his career.
Avicii was romantically involved with former Canadian model Raquel Bettencourt and here, they were pictured together in 2003:
He was battling with acute pancreatitis since 2014 due to excessive drinking. As a result, his gallbladder and appendix were removed, and by 2016, he quit world tours due to his health concerns. He looked gaunt due to his ill-health and it was clear that he was unwell.
This video from an Australian hospital shows the extent of his booze problems – lying around a bunch of doctors, instead of his console and screaming fans.
May his soul rest in peace. RIP Tim Berling.
