Kashmir’s Lashkar-e-Islam (LeI) militant outfit has given an ultimatum to the minuscule Kashmiri pandit community to leave the valley or else be killed.
Several posters by LeI were seen in the migrant colony at Hawl village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
“Double/triple your security, be ready for target killing. You will die”, reads the poster issued by the unknown commander of LeI.
“All migrants/RSS agents leave or face death. No space for Kashmiri pandits who want another Israel in Kashmir to kill Kashmiri Muslims (sic)”, reads the poster.
The black-and-white poster flaunts the flag and the logo of the outfit. The poster in English lampooned the security cover provided to the pandits living in the Valley.
As per the figures of Kashmir Pandit Sangrash Simiti (KPSS), there are 654 Kashmir pandit families comprising 3,000 people who did not migrate from the Valley at the onset of militancy in 1990.
These non-migrant pandits are living at 182 different locations across the Valley. There are around 110 places where police pickets have been established for the security of the minority community.
Official figures reveal that around 41,117 migrant families from Kashmir are registered in Jammu and 21,000 others in Delhi and other states. Of the total migrant families living in Jammu, 37,128 are Hindus, 2,246 Muslims, 1,738 Sikhs and five others.
The return of the Kashmiri migrants to the Valley is a part of the Centre’s Rs1,618-crore package, announced in 2008.
The police said that they are not able to identify the culprits yet.
