‘Sacred Games’ is India’s first ever Netflix series. The show by Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap released on July 6, 2018. Based on Vikram Chandra’s novel with the same title, the show stars Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead roles. The show has a gripping storyline and remarkable performance by all the actors. Within a few days of the launch of its first season, ‘Sacred Games’ has already earned lots of positive reviews from the critics and the audiences.
Apart from the main leads, a character that has earned rave reviews from everywhere around is of Cuckoo. In the show, Cuckoo is a transgender, played by Kubbra Sait. The transgender is not a stereotypical one we mostly get to see in Indian films or television shows.
In ‘Sacred Games’, Cuckoo is a witty, powerful and impressive human being who has a beautiful feminine side. Kubbra Sait has played the character very well and left everyone spellbound with her performance.
There is a particular scene from the show that has grabbed the attention of many. The scene where Ganesh Gaitonde, played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui finds out about her sexual identity also involved frontal nudity was reportedly shot 7 times. The actress has spoken about the scene at length with Times Now. Revealing what exactly happened on the sets during the shoot of the scene, the actress said:
“Just before the scene, I had a very happy, very excited, very joyful Anurag Kashyap jumping in front of me. Ache se karege haan, acha scene haan, ache se. I was laughing then, but I had to cry in the scene. We got to the vanity, he asked me what I drink, I said wine and he said get her a glass of whiskey. So he poured me a glass of whiskey and start reading the lines.”
Kubbra Sait further added:
“He made me do the scene 7 times. Every time after the scene, he’d come to me and say I am making you do this so many times, sorry haan. Just one more time, ek aur baar, one more and I am going again, don’t hate me, I know you hate me, don’t hate me. I would literally fall on the floor crying every time. He made me cry real-time 7 times. And when we finished the scene, I was still crying on the floor and he hugged me and said I love you so much and thank you for giving me this scene. I walked out of the room and everyone clapped, I didn’t know it was so beautifully done.”
A lesser-known name among the audiences, Kubbra Sait is a celebrated name in the entertainment industry of India. From anchoring events to television shows, and from acting in TV commercials to films, she has done it all. She is also the winner of India’s Best Female Emcee Award. And her Instagram feed is as interesting as her personality and character in ‘Sacred Games’. It is definitely going to be a joyride to take a look at some of her Instagram posts. So here you go:
Where do I begin… I didn’t know where it all started. A hint is all I had, A flicker, that flamed into reality. (After hosting the red carpet for a few years now, I walked one like a champ. I’m still reeling it all in.) . . . . The hearts that made me feel like a bloody starlet last night: @shayal (Baby you know I am eternally grateful to you, for NOT allowing me to style myself). @raj_mukadam for making my messy tresses look like BOMB, and NO, I didn’t spill a pin, even with all the monkeying around. @kashmiraaofficial for making me blush in your outfit. @sacredgames_tv you are special and I can’t wait to see me in it… 6th July. The fitness freak!
It’s #InternationalYogaDay and on this day I woke up at 5:45 AM, chanted, stayed my breath and rhythm and that is something I’ve learnt from yoga, you can go as far as you want, as deep as you want, but slowly and one breath at a time. So, own this breath, be compassionate to yourself. Love yourself enough and celebrate this day and your body. Have a grand day ahead. #PositiveVibes #HappyDay #Breathe Thank You @coach.urmi for being my guide.
