At the music launch event ‘2016 The End’, actor comedian Kiku Sharda invoked the infamous godman Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who was recently sentenced a 20 years jail term for raping two of his saadhvis. During the event, Kiku Sharda introduced Divyendu Sharma as the actor “last seen in ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’. In response, Divyendu Sharma said, “Yes and you were living in jail,” to which the comedian responded with a mischievous smile, “I went to jail for a day and now sir has gone for 20 years.”

It may be recalled that Kiku Sharda, last year, was imprisoned for a day last for impersonating as Ram Rahim Insaan for an onscreen gig. For making fun of the godman, Sharda was put behind bars with a charge of hurting the sentiments of hundreds of Ram Rahim followers. Sharda then was backed by veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, who mocked the former’s imprisonment with this tweet –

With the conviction of Ram Rahim Insaan in the rape case, Kiku Sharda engaged in an amusing Twitter conversation with Twinkle Khanna, both taking turns in picking on the godman. Sharda posted a photograph of himself and his wife at a restaurant and captioned it as, “enjoying a peaceful Chinese meal with no monosodium glutamate”, which was actually a response to a column penned by Khanna on Ram Rahim titled, “When the Love Charger ran out of battery.” And could Mrs. Funnybones have kept quiet at this great response? Her immediate reply to Sharda was short, crisp and full of humor:

Reacting to Ram Rahim’s conviction and imprisonment, Sharda told the media:

Well, things have been proven in the court and now we all know what he did. Justice happened and it was bound to happen, it’s karma. But whatever violence took place (following Ram Rahim’s conviction) was really sad. We shouldn’t have room for violence, we are peace-loving people, and we should stay in peace.
