The Khalistan movement refers to an persistent demand from a section of the Sikh community for a separate country, but this hardline demand has never been supported by ordinary Sikhs. Reports indicate that Pakistan is again backing Khalistani separatists in Punjab.

Now Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, the spokesperson of Delhi Unit of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and of Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena, posted a video showing Khalistani supporters marching in Punjab demanding a separate nation.

Bagga criticized the Amarinder Singh-led Congress government for providing police protection to the Khalistani supporters instead of arresting them.

The incident happened in Jalandhar. When someone asked when it happened, Bagga said the incident happened on August 15.

Twitterati responded with concern about the nation’s security:

As one can evidently see, the rally had posters demanding a separate Sikh homeland of Khalistan and thus asking for the division of India. Many see this is as a hardline, unconstitutional and precarious demand.
