In this era, if you do not have a great marketing strategy then you are nothing. The mega presence of social media has made sure that all the big brands routinely update their information on Facebook, Twitter, etc. Interestingly enough, people start following them up to learn more.
One such company which has excelled its marketing strategy is KFC. Known as the ‘big Daddy’ of fried chicken, KFC has kept its fans guessing about its lip-smacking chicken’s recipe since 1930s.
But did you know that KFC follows only 11 people on Twitter. Those 11 people are 5 Spice Girls and 6 Herbs. KFC’s response to its recipe has always been 11 secret herbs, hence this strategy of Twitter following is being appreciated by millions around the world.
The ‘hidden message’ was discovered by a user.
.@KFC follows 11 people.
Those 11 people? 5 Spice Girls and 6 guys named Herb.
11 Herbs & Spices. I need time to process this.

So what is this “11 herbs and spices” thing?
The founder of the KFC, Harland David Sanders, used a recipe consisting of exactly 5 spices and 6 herbs. He never revealed the secret and it remains one of the best kept trade secrets in the world. Many have tried to decode the secret but no one has been able to do so till date.
KFC has taken great measures not to publicize the secret such as not patenting it because rules dictate that everything related to a patent must be written and disclosed.
Thus the unique branding strategy of KFC’s Twitter account is being appreciated by many:
the person that runs the KFC account needs a raise. I don’t care how much they make now. GIVE THEM A RAISE.
