No true patriot can forget the ultimate sacrifice of Captain Vikram Batra of the 13 J&K Rifles during the 1999 Kargil War.
Captain Batra was posthumously honored with the Param Vir Chakra (PVC), the nation’s highest gallantry award. A memorial was built in his honor at Palanpur in Himachal Pradesh.
But this photo of Captain Batra’s father cleaning his son’s memorial has left people shocked.
According to TOI, the war hero’s father, G.L. Batra, was forced to clean the neglected memorial because of administrational apathy.
It was only after the senior Batra’s photo went viral on Saturday that authorities stepped in.
Twitterati criticized the state government:

It is indeed sad that the memorials to our heroes lie in such a state.
