There is no doubt about ‘Poo‘ aka Kareena Kapoor Khan being a fiercely talented and outspoken actress in Bollywood. Many times ‘Bebo’ has left media gasped with her statements, when she talks about being vegetarian or her outlandish statements about ex-boyfriends. But one thing is for sure – when Kareena talks, it is spread like wild fire.
One recent topic that has caught the media’s attention with many Bollywood actresses is their views on ‘Feminism’. From Kangana Ranaut to Priyanka Chopra, these top actresses gave us a real shocker with their strong mindsets on this topic.
It was time for Kareena Kapoor Khan to rend her views on the same subject. She was present with her co-stars Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania, along with producers Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor at the audio music launch of ‘Veere Di Wedding‘. This latest film is an all-out female dominated film and the crew is busy promoting it before its June release.
The actor was asked to share her definition of ‘feminism’ and whether she identifies with the concept. At this event, Kareena left everyone scratching their heads (specially social media) after she responded to the question. She went ahead and disclosed that, “I believe in equality. I wouldn’t say I am a feminist, I am a human being. So that is just the way I am.”

It seemed Bebo’s ‘Poo‘ moment shocked people that Mrs Khan believes in gender equality, but refuses to identify herself as a feminist!
Incidentally, feminism, by its very core meaning, is only about equality of the sexes. Clearly, Kareena’s statement didn’t go down with social media well and invited a barrage of sarcastic tweets and reactions. The internet prompted her to consult a dictionary and even wanted to correct her ‘mis-conception’.
Let’s take a look at some of the funny and sarcastic comments on Bebo’s dubious answer:
Can someone tell Kareena Kapoor that feminism is equality? 🙄

Disappointed by Kareena Kapoor making an ignorant statement like that, but even more disappointed that her's is *not* an unpopular opinion. I know far too many women who think along similar lines, including colleagues and family.

I'm not sexist, I believe women belong in the kitchen.
Just like #KareenaKapoor is not a feminist but believes in equality. @TheQuint @medhac1 @GarvitaKhybri @rosheenazehra @tedhikheer29 @khemtajose @MeghnadBose93 @NidhiMahajn @BBlessy @Divyanie @singhvatsala @UBhattacheryya pic.twitter.com/4r8bnOodbi

It's 2018 and we have a Kareena Kapoor say, 'I believe in equality of genders, but I am not a feminist'. How long before women in positions of influence educate themselves? Is that really too much to ask!

Oh man. So Kareena Kapoor said that she believes in equality but is not a feminist.
How disappointing that she doesn't know that true feminism stands for equality and nothing else! Tch tch

These comments surprised everyone as Kareena’sco-stars from ‘Veere Di Wedding’ are Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Swara Bhaskar who are well-known for their staunch feminist opinions. The film releases on June 1 and here’s the official trailer in case you missed it:
