There appears to be no end in sight of the debate over Nepotism in Bollywood. The issue has been raised by different celebrities time and again but when ‘Queen of Bollywood’ Kangana Ranaut talked about it on Karan Johar’s show ‘Koffee With Karan’ the controversy simply turned into a non-stop loop like one sees in computer programmes. Just like Kangana-Hrithik controversy, Kangana-Karan-nepotism controversy also spread like a wildfire all over the internet. However, the Queen has stopped talking about the issue, but it looks as if Karan is still in the mood of giving Kangana burns time and again.
Adat se majboor Karan Johar trolled Kangana at a promotional event for his upcoming movie ‘Ittefaq’. The movie is a remake of Yash Chopra’s 1969 cult classic of the same name. Stars like Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha are playing the lead in this remake. The movie is being produced by Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, and Renu Ravi Chopra.
Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan and the whole star cast of the movie were present at the promotional event.
While talking about the film, Karan took a sly dig at Kangana’s nepotism remark and mentioned that Shah Rukh and Sidharth Malhotra are not the product of nepotism, whereas, he himself along with Akshaye Khanna and Sonakshi Sinha are.
“We have two non nepotistic people – Shah Rukh Khan and Sidharth Malhotra, standing at the two extreme ends of the panel, and the remaining, Akshaye, Sonakshi and myself – are the brand ambassadors of nepotism.”
The film cast and makers have opted a new kind of marketing strategy and it’s “not talking about the film at all”. Since the movie is a suspense thriller, the makers want to everything about the movie a suspense. Asking the media not to give any spoiler about the film, Karan called them his family.
Taking a jibe at Karan’s “family” comment, Shah Rukh said:
“Yeah, only when you have to promote a film, that time you will call them a family.”
The word nepotism is back in news. Do you think Kangana will bother to pass a direct or indirect comment on this? Do share your views in the comments section below.
