The popular epic saga of ‘Baahubali’ has successfully been able to create ripples among moviegoers across the country. With a box office collection of Rs. 1596 crore, ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ has become one of the highest-grossing movies ever. Now, we all know that Karan Johar’s Dharma Production acquired the distribution rights of the Hindi version, you can’t even begin to think what his share turns out to be.
Promotion strategy plays a big role in the success of a movie, and Karan Johar toiled enough to make ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ a hit among viewers of Hindi cinema. As the Hindi version earned 478.3 crores, Dharma Productions may bag approx. Rs.22 to 25 crores from the bounty.
According to the industry’s norm, as reported by Bollywood Hungama, the distributors’ share will lie somewhere between Rs. 220 to Rs. 230 crore. Since Dharma Productions acquired the distribution rights to Hindi version of the movie at 10% on a commission based structure, Karan Johar stands to pocket Rs.22 to 25 crores.
The fandom of ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ could successfully keep us itching for the sequel. Therefore, it was not rocket-science to expect the next film to go bigger than the first one. Karan Johar surely knows where and how to invest.
