Ace film-maker Karan Johar has dropped a big announcement! The director just announced the cast for his next film titled ‘Takht’ and left the social media users in a confused state of mind. Where on one hand, people are amazed to hear about the cast which is grand in itself and includes actors – Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles, he is also being accused of nepotism once again! Some are even wondering – Why Janhvi Kapoor?
Karan has drawn comparisons between ‘Takht‘ and ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham‘, however one can smell that this film is going to be the biggest project of Karan Johar till now, if the unusual cast of the film is taken in view.
In a recent interview to a publication, Karan revealed:
“It’s like the K3G of the Mughal era. But it’s more extreme, there is more betrayal. It has the tropes of court politics. It’s so rich in texture. It’s about two warring brothers and it’s based on facts.”
I am so excited and honoured to announce the lead cast of #TAKHT@RanveerOfficial #KareenaKapoorKhan @aliaa08 @vickykaushal09 @psbhumi #JanhviKapoor @AnilKapoor #HirooYashJohar @apoorvamehta18@sumit_roy_ @hussainhaidry pic.twitter.com/ifgb8RC7uV

‘Takht’ is about a war between Aurangzeb and Dara Shikoh and Ranveer Singh will play the character of the Mughal Emperor while Kareena Kapoor Khan will be his sister Jahanara Begum.
Karan Johar further spoke about the star-cast and revealed many important details:
“It’s an unusual mix of talent. They are actors who have walked the parallel path, we have the superstar dynamic with Kareena (Kapoor), there’s Anil Kapoor who I have never directed before – but each actor fits the part to the tee. It’s not that I have gone to them because I have access. It’s a strange dichotomy. Each one has never played a part like this and yet each one fit it perfectly.”
It is quite obvious that people would certainly draw comparisons between Karan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali who has directed period dramas. Giving his opinion on the same, Karan explained:
“I would be lying if I didn’t admit that the comparison is very challenging. I love Sanjay’s aesthetic. The comparison scares me but I hope I can find my own voice. I hope I’m not doomed by comparison.”
As soon as the news broke out on social media, people started accusing Karan Johar for promoting nepotism and even mentioned that he could have also taken Taimur in the film.
