Labelling them as ‘threat to residents’, Karachi authorities poisoned at least 700 stray dogs.
To kill dogs, authorities mixed poisonous tablets in the meat given to the animals. Bodies of dead dogs littered areas of the city. “At least 700 dogs have been killed only in two areas of Karachi’s south in the last couple of days,” Sattar Javed, a spokesperson for the municipal authority, told Reuters.
The inhumane action taken by the authorities drew sharp criticism from social network users.
