Anupam Kher has not only come to the defence of the Indian Army but also attacked a section of media for trying to project Kanhaiya Kumar as hero.
“Captain Pawan Kumar was also from JNU, but at 22 years of age he was protecting the nation…did any media house paid a visit to his parents?…Do people sitting over here believe what a section of students did in JNU was correct? Yes or no?…And here this person (Kanhaiya) is being made into a crusader, about who a few journalists saw is a 5 foot 7 inch kid, his parents are poor…”
Kher was answering questions raised by India TV’s Editor-in-chief Rajat Sharma in his popular show ‘Aap Ki Adalat’.
When asked about the ongoing JNU Row, Kher attacked the students involved without naming them.
“What was it that he (Kanhaiya) said..that army men are raping women in Kashmir, I mean how can he say something like this?”
“The definition of Hero is redefining..our Heroes should remain those who work like a Hero…be it Sachin Tendulkar, Sania Mirza or Saina Nehwal, Dhoni or Captain Pawan Kumar…these are our Heroes, who are doing something for the nation..and we are making THESE people into a Hero?”
Few days earlier, another speech of Anupam Kher had gone viral when he had taken on Former Supreme Court judge, Justice (Retd.) Asok Kumar Ganguly at The Telegraph National Debate about his speech in intolerance.
