Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi – has been making the headlines these days for all the wrong reasons. Unfortunately, the film has been facing controversies ever since it was announced. According to recent media reports, her former co-star Sonu Sood has quit the film after having an alleged spat with her. Moreover, because of the unexpected changes in the film’s schedule, Director Krish also had to drop out of the film due to his prior commitment for an NTR biopic in South.

Reportedly, actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub replaced Sonu Sood for his role and Kangana Ranaut stepped into the director’s shoes for the further schedule. As per reports, the producers of Manikarnika didn’t seem satisfied enough with the first shot of the film such that it did not turn out to justify the needs of the script approved by KV Vijayendra Prasad.

In such a scenario, the producers have decided to reshoot certain portions of the film from the previous shoot with Sonu Sood, under the directorial guidance of Kangana Ranaut now. However, what was supposed to be a 10-day patchwork shoot has now seemingly turned into a 45-day schedule that will require filming of several plot points that were missing from the original cut shot by director Krish.

Evidently, producers have to invest an additional cost of Rs 20 crore for the reshoot schedule of the film Manikarnika. Well, with the recurring delays in the film’s shoot, the budget of the film has gone up to a whopping Rs 125 crore. Reportedly, a cost of Rs 60 crore was originally incurred in production, but now with the reshoot and changes in schedule, the makers of the film have already incurred losses of nearly Rs 65 crore in the production.

With the increasing changes in the film, the producer of Manikarnika, Kamal Jain stated that he supports the decision to transfer the directorial responsibilities to the lead actress of the film Kangana Ranaut because of her dedication towards the project.

Addressing the media, Kamal Jain said,

“Given how driven and creatively involved Kangana Ranaut has been on this project since its inception, we rrealizedthat she would be the best person to take over the mantle. Hence, there is no hijacking of the project and whatever decisions are being taken are with the full support of the producer and the studio.”

The film is the story of the courageous queen Manikarnika or Rani Laxmibai who fought for her kingdom against the British Raj. The film will tell the tale of her life from childhood to marriage and her motherhood. Moreover, Indian television actress Ankita Lokhande will join Kangana Ranaut in the film as her confidante Jhalkarbai. The movie is slated to release on January 25, 2019.
