People change; friends sometimes become strangers.
This line sums up the bitter relationship between Kajol and Karan Johar. From ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘K3G’ to ‘My Name Is Khan’, they, together, made some of the best Hindi films, and won accolades, too. And for many years, they have been a symbol of strong friendship in Bollywood, where relationships are often short-lived.
And now, after twenty-five long years, their friendship has reached a dead end. The problem came when ‘Shivaay’ and ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ had a Diwali clash. For us, it was just a clash of movies at the box-office, but, in reality, it was the clash of friendship, which ended on a sad note.
Ajay and Kajol had accused Karan of bribing KRK to defame ‘Shivaay’, and that is when Karan, decided to end his every bit of relation with her,
I don’t have a relationship with Kajol anymore. We’ve had a fallout. Something happened that disturbed me deeply which I will not talk about because it’s something that I like to protect and feel it would not be fair to her or to me. After two and half decades, Kajol and I don’t talk at all. We just acknowledge each other, say ‘hello’ and walk past.
Karan also mentioned about his fight with Kajol in his book, ‘An Unsuitable Boy’, and openly blamed her for their fallout. And now, after months of silence, Kajol gave a brief interview with DNA, and indirectly attacked Johar. She said,
Well, I think there’s a lot of fake honesty going around as well. I really do. There are a lot of people going around and saying, ‘You know I’m being honest’ and actually, it’s just for selling books, or movies and ratings. I don’t know, there are a lot of reasons for faking it in front of the camera. Or in front of the public, for that matter. I think honesty has been abused over time and space.
This bold statement proved she is in no mood to restart her friendship with Karan. Perhaps, neither of them wants to. She further said,
Relationships are about working things out. So I do believe that if they are worth it, two people will make the effort to work through it.
