Issued Quick Passport, Junior Female Boxer Meets Sushma Swaraj’s Expectations By Winning Silver Medal

Sushma Swaraj keeps doing wonders with her social media presence and prompt action taking. The minister is well known, not only in India, but in neighboring countries as well, for being active on social media to address people’s troubles pertaining to the Ministry of External Affairs. And here we have another one from her.

Recently, an Indian junior boxer Jhalak Tomar was selected as a participant for Valeria Demyanova Memorial International Tournament to be held in Ukraine. The 15-year old was to compete in 54kg category and was all geared up for the tournament but had a big trouble facing her.

Jhalak had applied for her passport which had not arrived even after she was selected for the tournament. Then, a Twitter user tweeted seeking assistance from Regional Passport office. Our External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj took note of the matter and took prompt action. And for getting the passport, she wanted Jhalak to win a medal for the country. As promised, the junior boxer got her passport well in time. Sushma Swaraj, in another tweet, shared the picture of Jhalak Tomar getting her passport. Below is the tweet by Swaraj:

Apart from Jhalak, other Indian participants also gave a great performance at the championship. In total, they claimed four gold medals, three silver and one bronze medal. Out of all the participants, what made Jhalak’s performance attract media’s attention were her circumstances.
