This Is The Judge Who Pronounced The Conviction On Ram Rahim Singh In The Rape Case

Justice Jagdeep Singh has pronounced Dera Sacha Sauda Chief, Ram Rahim, guilty of raping a female follower.

Justice Singh has been described as a very competent, tough and upright judge with a no-nonsense attitude by his colleagues, seniors, and juniors in the legal fraternity. This is Singh’s second posting as a judicial officer after he was appointed as a CBI special judge last year.

Singh had joined the Haryana judicial services in 2012 and was posted at Sonepat. After a thorough check on background and qualifications, he bagged the coveted CBI special judge appointment. Prior to his appointment as a judge, Singh practiced in the Punjab and Haryana high court as a lawyer.

A lawyer who has worked with him in the past commented,

Singh likes keeping a low profile and is a man of few words. But all those who know him vouch for his competence and integrity.

A native of Haryana, Singh has been taking up both, civil and criminal cases since 2000. An alumnus of Punjab University, he has been described as a bright, hardworking and upright student and lawyer.

Singh had also come into the limelight in 2006, when he rushed four people to the hospital after they were met with an accident. Singh was driving from Hisar to Panchkula when he saw four people gravely injured lying on the road. Like a good Samaritan, he rushed them to a hospital in Jind after the ambulance operator replied that they cannot reach the spot on time.

Following the conviction of Ram Rahim Singh, there has been an eruption of violence in of Panchkula, Mohali and Chandigarh by his followers.

Curfew imposed.


Five people have been reported dead.


Future was pre-determined.
