Salman Khan’s upcoming movie ‘Tubelight’ is all set for release this Friday, and the film is already being promoted in various cities by the entire team. At a recent event, Salman Khan was present with his child co-actor, Matin Rey Tangu, and the film’s director, Kabir Khan, to address the media when an unaware journalist asked the child actor a question which left almost everyone confused.

While journalists began with the question and answers round with the team, a journalist asked Matin if this was his first time in India. There began the ultimate confusion. Being unaware of the fact that Matin is a resident of Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, the journalist again pitched the same question to him.
Visibly confused, Matin then turned towards Salman Khan, who took it upon himself to explain to Matin that the reporter was asking him if he has come to India for the first time. Matin finally replied,
Hum India par hi mein rehta hai toh India par aega hi kaise? (I live in India, how will I visit India?)

As the news broke on Twitter, Twitteratis started reacting over’s Matin’s reply. Many of them believed that it is the fault on the part of the makers of the film that they cast a northeastern kid and portrayed him as a Chinese.
What do you all think? Is it wrong of @TubelightKiEid makers to cast a north-eastern kid as Chinese as it leads to such racist assumptions pic.twitter.com/shMiZJi4pI

Casting an Indian as Chinese comes under whitewashing?
— Sameer (@BornToWhine) June 20, 2017
But why did the makers cast an Indian kid as Chinese? Ain’t they fueling this North Eastern racism too by doing so?

Not doubting the kid’s talent but would have been awesome if he was cast like other kids do. This won’t help to break the stereotype.
