Intelligence agencies have confirmed a latest news regarding the killing of at least five persons from Kerala’s Malabar region who joined the Islamic State.
It has been reported that the five were killed while fighting for the Islamic Sate in Syria for the past four months. With this, the number of people from Kerala killed in the Islamic State has risen to 10, as per the report.
Almost two days back, the information regarding the death of Sibi from Kanjikkode in Palakkad reached his relatives. However, any details of Sibi, who was working in Bahrain, is not available. He left India to join the Islamic State in July 2016.
Another person killed in Aleppo in Syria is Muhadis, he is known to be a resident of Vandoor in Malappuram district. Almost 5 years back his family had shifted to Vaniyambalam, according to the report.
It is suspected that he was killed in the military operations last Friday in Aleppo.
However, it is revealed that local residents in Vaniyambalam are unaware of any details of Muhadis and his family. A resident from Chalad in Kannur is also believed to be killed in Syria. Two other people, one from Vadakara in Kozhikode district and another from Kondotty in Malappuram district, are also suspected to have lost their lives. These people are known as ‘Bahrain group’ in the police circles.
