Jignesh Mevani often manages to hit the headlines, and usually for wrong reasons. He is a Member of Legislative Assembly from Vadgam constituency, a reserved seat of Gujarat Legislative Assembly. Apart from this, he has actively been involved and has led protests by Dalits. Recently, a complaint was registered against him for making provocative statements during an event marking 200th anniversary of Bhima-Koregaon battle.

According to the complaint, Mevani’s statement led to the rise of tension between two communities. The clashes between the two groups had even left a man dead. Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Social Justice, Ramdas Athawale has said that the politician is not responsible for the violence that occurred in Bhima- Koregaon, Pune.

Now the newly-elected Vadgam MLA has once again got himself into the limelight for presenting a new demand and this time in front of social media platform Facebook. In a tweet, Mevani asked Facebook to verify his official page since he is “MLA and Social leader” and because people are spreading misleading information about him by creating pages with same names.
