A Janata Dal (Secular) leader from Karnataka has been arrested for alleged attempt to rape a woman employee. The act was caught on CCTV camera.

Chandrahasa, who is gram panchayat president of Kesturu in Mandya district, allegedly pushed and dragged the woman while she was attempting to free herself from his grip.

The 32-year-old female attendant, who was working in the panchayat for over six years, told fellow employees about the incident. However, he claimed that he only asked her to sweep the floor.

The panchayat employees thrashed Chandrahasa before handing him over to the police.

The police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
