The queen of controversy Sona Mohapatra has landed herself in some trouble again. Like every other time, this time too Sona is being criticized for something unusual. However, this criticism is not from her fans but a Sufi group.

As per a report, Sona has alleged that she received a threat notice from Madariya Sufi foundation. This threat was about Sona’s music video, and the Sufi foundation has asked her to remove the music video from all platforms.

To bring this to light to her fans and police authorities, Sona shared her ordeal in a series of tweets from her official Twitter account. The singer has also claimed that last time when she was threatened, she did not receive any support from the cops.

However, this time, Mumbai police were quick enough to respond to her tweets. An investigation is already underway in the case. The singer has also submitted a letter to the Santacruz police on April 30 about alleged threatening emails she has been receiving from a Sufi organisation since last few days over her latest track “Tori Surat”.

The Madariya Sufi foundation dubbed the singer a “regular offender” and alleged that the singer flouted the rules set by their foundation for representation of Sufi art and culture. Here are the tweets Sona shared through her official Twitter handle.

As per a report, Sona mentioned: “These religious bodies, who maybe still live in a primitive area, think that wearing a sleeveless dress and dancing to the tunes of a Sufi poetry is blasphemy. And, they have accused me under the blasphemy law. They said my dress was vulgar and offending.”

After the news reached the industry, veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar and singer Shibani  Kashyap came up in support of Sona and condemned the threats.

While, Shibani said, “Sona is a warrior, the entire entertainment industry stands by her”.
