Soon after completing his shoots for Thugs of Hindostan, actor Aamir Khan will join the makers of the 1,000 crore budget movie Mahabharata. Reports suggest that this movie is going to be one of the most expensive films to be ever made in the Bollywood industry. The film will be co-produced by Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani.

Though there is no official announcement, the buzz is that the Mahabharata franchise would be a series that could span across 3-5 parts. The production is geared to take on the scale of HBO’s The Game of Thrones and the Peter Jackson’s Lord Of The Rings trilogy. Reports further suggest that services of international writers and multiple directors would be taken so as to enhance the appeal of the movie. The first film of the series will be directed by Advait Chandan who made his debut into direction with Aamir Khan’s ‘Secret Superstar’. It is also said that Aamit himself will direct one of these films.

Aamir Khan is deeply invested in the magnum opus and even turned down Mahesh Mathai’s biopic on cosmonaut Rakesh Sharma, for its sake, in keeping with his streak of perfectionism.

There are rumours that Aamir Khan had expressed his fondness for Karna’s character but he afterall might play Lord Krishna in the grand magnum opus.

Soon after the news of Aamir playing role of Lord Krishna started doing rounds, French political writer and journalist François Gautier tweeted:

Gautier’s remarks quickly irked lyricist and author Javed Akhtar, who tweeted:
