The people who came to the streets getting violent in protesting the conviction of their “Pitaji”, Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, were following him so blindly that Dera could make them do anything in the name of charity. Nai Duniya reports Dera followers revealing that a piece of 100-gram jaggery that was apparently made by Ram Rahim himself has been sold for Rs. 1.25 lakh.

Well, the blind worship of the Dera chief does not end at that. The chair on which Ram Rahim used to sit was sold for Rs. 2 lakh. The vegetables grown in the Dera farm were sold in the market on two and four wheelers by the outfit on prices in multiples of their actual market price.

Shockingly, the items were not sold to the followers forcefully. In fact, they themselves took the initiative to spend huge amounts of money of these things. According to one of the Dera followers, the revenue received from selling these things was termed as charity. This means that the money was to be used for philanthropic works such as medical treatment of the destitute at the Dera hospital.

A former Dera Sacha Sauda official from Sangrur, Punjab, disclosed that he has bought a piece of jaggery made by Gurmeet Ram Rahim for Rs. 1.25 lakh. While someone from the city has even bought a motorcycle driven by the Dera chief for Rs. 2 lakh. A number of people from Sangrur have bought chairs used by him for Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 2 lakh. A single capsicum that was grown in the garden near Gurmeet Singh’s mysterious (not anymore) cave is sold for anything between Rs. 500 to Rs. 2000.

It is shocking to see how people were buying normal daily use items at almost 100 times their actual price blindly in the name of Dera Sacha Sauda and a guru that has now been convicted as a rapist!
