For the first time ever in the cricketing history, teams would be allowed to transfer players that too in the middle of the season.
What’s more, this transformation in cricket is starting in our very own IPL and that too this week.
While this concept is not new for football where leagues like English Premier League (EPL) and La Liga already practice these transfer every year, this would be the first time in League cricket’s history that any teams would be allowed to do so.
Starting from April 29, the transfer process has begun and would now go on till May 10 midnight.
During this time, both uncapped and capped players can be transferred from one team to another, but they are only allowed to exchange those capped players who have played two or less matches this season.
Just like in football the terms can be negotiated between the teams involved and one team can pick any players they like as long as they keep the above condition in mind.
According to reports, cricketers like Rohit Sharma and Mahela Jayawardene have supported the above idea and look forward to the transfer.
Further, some major players that might be selected for transfer this season are Moeen Ali (Royal Challengers Bangalore), JP Duminy (Mumbai Indians), Alex Hales (Sunrisers Hyderabad), Ish Sodhi (Rajasthan Royals) and Sandeep Lamichhane (Delhi Daredevils) as they meet all the above conditions for exchange.
