It has been recently confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) CEO Rahul Johri, that teams Rajasthan Royals an Chennai Super Kings will be making a comeback in the next season of Indian Premiere League (IPL) 2018. A two-year suspension is being served by the two teams currently. The teams previously failed to give financial clearances, and were banned for two years.
To fill the void, two new franchise had been introduced in the tournaments – Rising Pune Supergiant (Pune Franchise) and the Gujarat Lions (Rajkot Franchise). While, the players of Rajasthan Royals and the Chennai Superkings went through an auction in 2016.
The BCCI CEO has further added that the new teams will not be a part of the tournament in 2016. He also explained that to increase the popularity of IPL, more fan parks will be introduced in the next year.
