Modi government, on 1 February, announced the interim budget. It contained some mega announcements for unorganized sector workers, farmers, rural citizens, and middle-class people. From assured income of Rs 6000/ year for small and marginal farmers to increased tax rebate for income up to Rs 500,000, the budget presented many changes. However, the part of interim budget that caught the attention of the netizens was completely unexpected.
Soon after the announcement, BJP went on to make a ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike‘ inspired tweet about the budget. But something that they thought would appeal to all the masses, got mixed reviews. In fact, many tweeps even came up with sarcastic comebacks to the filmy tweet by BJP.
The tweet was posted from BJP’s official Twitter handle. Well, it was only a few of the significant changes that they have brought about in this year’s budget. But it was the way that they tweeted it which mattered the most. Here is the interim budget related tweet by BJP.
How’s the Josh?
Middle Class : High Sir! #BudgetForNewIndia pic.twitter.com/Jdi2VXG63s— BJP (@BJP4India) February 1, 2019
Well, we have to give to the handle manager, it was a solid effort. But nothing withstands the wits and sarcasm of the Twitterati. While a lot of people gave positive responses, many others began posting sarcastic reactions. This is what some of the reactions tweets went like:
