We all use Facebook to post pictures of birthday celebrations, holiday updates or just about any incident of happiness – so that all our peers and social networking buddies are aware of what’s happening in our lives. Such is the power of social media, that it has become next to impossible not to post regular updates without the use of Facebook, or live videos via Instagram.
But have you ever heard of an incident where someone who is lodged inside a prison, still manages to post his birthday pictures on Facebook?! This isn’t an impossible situation, because in Faridkot Modern jail in Punjab, it just happened. In a major blow to the lax of security inside prisons in India, a picture of an undertrial celebrating his birthday with other inmates has gone viral.
The pictures were of the birthday celebrations of gangster Bhola “Shooter” and in this picture, he is seen with his other aide Pala Brar, who shared them on his Facebook account.
The viral picture shows five pictures of Bhola “Shooter” celebrating his birthday inside the jail. The pictures were posted at 8.29 pm on April 6 from the account of his aide Pala Brar, who is himself lodged in the same jail! Besides him and Bhola, four other youngsters are also seen in the celebratory picture.
Pala Brar (Parampal Singh Brar) who posted these photos on April 2, is also an under trail in the same Punjab jail. Bhola is accused of murdering another history-sheeter Lovy Deora, and was arrested by the Chandigarh police in July 2017.
Another gangster who could be seen with a pink cap, was spotted in this Facebook account of ‘Popular Faces Of Malwa’:
After his picture went viral, the police raided the jail and recovered four mobile phones, including three smartphones from the barracks of these gangsters. The birthday boy also faces other cases of murder, dacoity and extortion.
The Punjab police have since lodged an FIR against all the persons seen in picture, including Bhola and Brar. Faridkot Jail SP (headquarters) Deepak Parekh has confirmed the incident.
However, what needs to be addressed is how these pictures for uploaded from inside the premises on Facebook, under the not-so-watchful eyes of six jail officials. The notorious gangster has once again kept the police on their feet!
These under trails using social media from inside the jail have raised serious security concerns and has gone viral on news channels since being posted.
Faridkot jail Assistant superintendent Mohinder Singh and jail warden, Gurdeep Singh, have been suspended since the incident. Do you think we need tighter security even in jails? Tell us in the comments.
