It’s bad news for cricket lovers and environment enthusiasts in India as Earth Hour is falling right between their favourite Ind0-Pak T20 match on March 19.
To make the matters worse, it is not just any match, but a ICC World T20 Cup match, which means that the rivalry would be at its peak.
Not only would the Kolkata’s Eden Gardens be packed, but viewers from all over the world would be jammed in front of their TV to catch the live action.
Looking at the dilemma, celebrities like Amitabh Bahchan has taken up the cause and requested people to not only observe Earth Hour by turn off their lights, but support the country by watching the Indo-Pak match with friends on one screen.

Besides Sr. Bahchan, other celebs to join his initiative were actor Boman Irani who said:
“Schedules are schedules, you can’t mess with that. Unfortunately the match fixture was made long ago, but it would be great if people could watch the game together.”
Actor Adil Hussain who also gave the same advice:
“When we can see Oscars in the recorded format then why not a cricket match? I will definitely watch a recorded version of the match in such a scenario.”
“I fully support Mr B’s call for families to watch the match on one screen. In fact, let’s take it further and get together with friends and neighbours to watch it together. This will save electricity and build community. Plus, it’s fun! Observe Earth Hour. The world needs us to care, now, more than ever.”
Actor Divya Dutta and Rajeev Khandelwal who added:
“One would want to be sensitive towards the environment and enjoy the game as well…If we have to choose between saving the earth and watching a match, I would say please save the earth. I think everyone is aware of it, but let us make it exciting and join hands and watch it together.”
The Earth Hour is observed each year between 8:30 pm-9:30 pm, which means it will fall smack in the middle of the T20 match.
The big question now remains will people follow the celebs’ advice?
