The state of Himachal Pradesh recently became the first state to give easy access to ambulances via mobile application when it launched India’s first mobile based App for calling ambulances. The new app is called ‘108 HP’.

The new app was launched by State’s Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur on August 27 and provides immediate and easy access without sharing details such as name and location.

Besides launching the app Singh also flagged off five new ambulances from Ridge Maidan.

These new ambulances will operate under 108- National Ambulance Service and would be serving at health centres of Jalog and Rampur in Shimla District, Chatari in Mandi District, Gagret in Una District and Bharari in Bilaspur District.

Singh claimed that with this the number of 108 ambulances in Himachal Pradesh has increased to 199 as compared to just 50 in 2010.

Thus there is now one ambulance for every 34,000 population.
