In the 2018 edition of Commonwealth Games, India gave a stellar performance by securing the 3rd position in the Honors list. With a total of 66 medals, India went from the fifth position to the third, just behind Australia and England. Here are some of the interesting facts about the achievements of Indian athletes in CWG 2018:

 

1. Youngest Indian weightlifter

 

 

Deepak Lather bagged this title as he won Bronze in the men’s 69kg category, he is 18-years-old.

2. Creating history

 

 

16-year-old Manu Bhaker registered a record-breaking 240.9 points in the women’s 10m Air Pistol event, and won a gold medal for the same.

3. Successful individual performance

 

 

Manika Batra won a total of four medals in table tennis. She also became the first-ever women’s singles gold medal winner from India.

15-year-old shooter Anish Bhanwala won Gold in 25m Rapid Fire Pistol becoming India’s youngest-ever medallist in CWG.

5. Winning continues

 

 

MC Mary Kom bags Gold after defeating Northern Ireland’s Kristina O’Hara in the women’s 45-48kg category.

6. At the top

 

 

Neeraj Chopra won the yellow metal with his season-best of 86.47m in Men’s Javelin Throw Final. He stayed at the top of the pack throughout the final.

7. Hat-trick

 

 

While Sushil Kumar made hat-trick at Men’s 74 kg wrestling with three Gold wins in consecutive CWG, Babita Phogat kept her record by winning silver at Women’s 53 kg wresting for the third time.
