Porn is something which has been a subject of constant debate. Different people have different opinions about it. As per a media report, India is among the top ranks when it comes to viewing adult content. As per a new book titled ‘India Connected: How The Smartphone Is Transforming The World’s Largest Democracy’ it has been revealed that Indians refrain from watching pornographic content during festive seasons like Diwali. Yes, you read that just right, Indians avoid porn during religious festivals.

It is also mentioned in the book how India’s digital behavior has been influenced by inexpensive smartphones and data.

There is a chapter in the book titled ‘Searching for Sunny-The Rise of Pornography’, in which the author refers to a report by PornHub (a popular adult site) in 2016, and mentioned that Indians avoid porn during religious festivals.

As per the report, the traffic dropped by 17 per cent from India during Diwali, and it also dropped by 15 per cent during Ramadan. Independence day and Republic day saw a rise in the traffic. PornHub India had mentioned that India is a very important market for the website.
