Rahul Bose’s upcoming biopic on Poorna had a special screening held for our very own Indian cricket team in Pune.
The movie is based on life journey of Poorna Malavath who scaled the Mount Everest at the age of 13.
Rahul Bose was keen to show his film to Indian cricket captain, Virat Kohli, because he believed that Virat would identify with the core of the story.
Rahul went on to share saying, “When I spoke to Virat, he suggested that I speak to Anil bhai (Anil Kumble, the coach) and ask him if all the boys could watch the film with him before their test match in Pune.”
The bleed blue team, who will play a test series against Australia on February 23, was to arrive in Pune on February 19 to begin practice. Rahul, when reasoned the storyline to the team, got an instant yes from his long time friend Anil.
The film is about a character beating all odds in the face of every bias – she is a girl, uneducated, from a tribal village in Telangana and really poor. To top it, it’s a real life story.
The trailer is slated to release on February 23 and audiences are excited to witness it.
On Sunday, at 7:30 pm, Anil and Virat, along with Sanjay Bangar, R Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Cheteshwar Pujara, Umesh Yadav, Abhinav Mukund, Karun Nair, K L Rahul, Wriddhiman Saha, R Shridhar, Patrick Farhat, Anil Patel, Ravinder Jadeja and Jayant Yada caught the film at a Hinjawadi multiplex.
The real life Poorna, who couldn’t make it up, will be present at another preview show in Hyderabad ahead of the film’s release on March 31 where her whole village is expected to turn up.
