Reem took to Instagram to share the film’s poster with the tagline: “Poster of my first movie- Malala Yousafzai Biopic- Gul Makai.”
Before being picked out, she had to undergo rigorous training for the film that demanded of her to perfect her diction and mannerisms.
The film ‘Gul Makai’ will be Reem’s first important role. Earlier she has acted in some television serials and had a small role in the Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar-starrer ‘Wazir’ film.
Produced by Anand Kumar, Gul Makai also features the critically acclaimed actor, late Om Puri. Divya Dutta plays the role of Malala’s mother and Ragini Khanna also has a important role in the film
According to Kumar, major portions of the film were shot in Bhuj and Mumbai in 2016. Rest of the shooting will resume this later this month.
In a statement to the media, Kumar said:
The biopic is 50 per cent finished and I am super curious to bring it to the silver screen soon. We have already shot war sequences and other important schedules. Now we will be shooting with our ‘Malala’ in Kashmir.
Giving a preview about the film, Kumar said the war scenes portray the difficult phases in Malala’s life. The film is about the distinctive shades and reality of the extreme circumstances which Malala experienced while voicing her support in favor of girls’ education in Pakistan.
