This is rare. India won and India lost against the same opponent nation in different events in the same city.
While Team India, we mean the boys who play cricket, lost in the Champions Trophy final against Pakistan by 158 runs, another Team India beat Pakistan. This Team India plays hockey.
Virat Kohli’s team lost the match to a superb display of cricketing genius by Pakistan at The Oval in London. On the other hand, India beat Pakistan 7-1 in the Hockey World League match in London just hours before their cricket brothers were defeated.
Thanks to powerfully and intelligently placed goals by Talwinder Singh, Harmanpreet Singh and Akashdeep Singh, each of whom got two, India completely routed the Pakistani side.
Having won all of their previous three matches, India now not only comfortably sits on top of Pool B but has also qualified for the quarter-finals. It will now face Netherlands in their last pool game.
Pakistan got its only goal in the 57th minute from Muhammad Umar Bhutta.
