Indian shooter Jitu Rai on March 1 won the gold medal in men’s 50m free pistol event of the ISSF World Cup and set a new world record by doing so.
While Rai scored 230.1 points to win Gold, India’s second shooter Amanpreet Singh, was right behind him with the score of 226.9 points to win the silver medal.
A day before on Febuarary 28, Rai had won the bronze medal in the air pistol event of the World Cup where he came from behind to win the medal.
In the 50m free pistol event, while it was Amanpreet who was leading the field till halfway point, Rai gradually moved up in the final stages and clinched gold.

On February 27, Jitu Rai, along with female shooter Heena Sindhu, had also won the gold ‘badge’ in the mixed team event of the 10m air pistol event.
