The map was crafted in the 20th century in Poona (now Pune). It accurately points out cities, towns, and kingdoms as they were in place in the ancient Indian epic the Mahabharata.
Just for a quick glance, Gandhar is to the extreme northwest of the map. Panchal is in heart of present-day Uttar Pradesh. Kishkindha of Ramayana existed in what is now Karnataka.
The map can be considered to be highly accurate since it places every kingdom according to their description in the epic. The name of the cartographer is not known.
We found this map on the US Library of Congress website.
