In a hustle to file return by the taxpayers, especially when it is the last day of the deadline, certainly something was expected. The income tax site saw a crash after too many people logged onto the site.

People were not able to access the official website of the income tax department: throughout the final day of filing the returns.

The official website for filing the income tax returns crashed this morning

“It is a hardware glitch. The site has not crashed. The technical team is working on it and it should be up and running shortly,” revealed a CBDT spokeswoman, as per a report.

A large number of taxpayers tried opening the site and filling their details, when the site crashed, this time the surge in the number of e-filing returns was unprecedented, according to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). People who do not have business or professional income are required to file I-T returns in either ITR-1 or ITR-2 every year, these people basically fall under the service class section of the society.

Today, early in the morning, the official Twitter handle of Income Tax India tweeted about filing income tax and informed the taxpayers of the last date.

To which, people took digs and some even lashed out!
