IAS officer Tina Dabi, who came into limelight after she became the first Dalit to top the highly prestigious civil services exam in 2015, is now married to the person who cleared the same exam securing the second position.

Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan is the second-ranker, with whom Tina Dabi got married on March 20, 2018, in a simple court wedding in Jaipur. Later, the couple had planned two wedding celebrations, one in Kashmir and the other in Delhi.

The two got married again at a hotel in Pahalgam, Kashmir, as Mr. Khan is a resident of the Devipora in Mattan, a little South to Kashmir Valley.

As the fairy-tale love story was turning into a happy marriage, there were many criticisms from some quarters over their inter-faith alliance. In order to address to those criticisms, Dabi said, “We are in love and very happy. But I must admit I get very disturbed when I read such stuff about us.”

But the couple decided to tie the knot against all odds in a low-key affair. There were only close family and friends who attended the Kashmiri wedding.

Tina Dabi had shared some of the wedding pictures that took place in the month of March on her Facebook account.

The love story of Tina Dabi and Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan began when they both were studying together in the Department of Personnel and Training in Delhi. Both of them declared their love for each other three years ago through social media. They were quite open and active about their relationship on the internet.

Tina Dabi, 25 is a graduate from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi, while Mr. Khan, 26 is from Kashmir and completed his engineering from IIT, Himachal Pradesh. While Tina Dabi cleared the Indian Administrative Services exam in her first attempt with flying colours scoring a little over 52 per cent, it was a second attempt for Athar Khan. In his first attempt in 2014, he had got into railways and was undergoing training at the Railways Institute of Transport Management in Lucknow.

Now, both IAS officers are a part of the Rajasthan cadre in Ajmer.

As you saw the pictures of the wedding celebrations that happened in Kashmir, the celebration in Delhi is scheduled to happen on April 14.

We wish the couple a happy married life!
