IAS Officer Shah Faesal Resigns To ‘Protest Killings’ In Kashmir, But Twitterati Think Otherwise

Updated on 31 January, 2019 at 12:04 pm By

In the last few years, there has been a significant rise in the levels of radicalisation and violent extremism in the Kashmir valley. Local recruitment in militant groups have risen alarmingly in the valley. The frenzied stone-pelting mobs at the encounter sites, police stations and security installations, show that today’s youth is far more emboldened to disrupt military operations in any part of the state. Many areas in South Kashmir have also seen heavy turnouts at the funerals of militants.

As per security forces, around 140 terrorists successfully sneaked into the Kashmir Valley in 2018, majority of whom are from Jaish-e-Mohammed terror group.

Shah Faesal reportedly gave a resignation notice to the state government on January 7. He is likely to contest parliament elections from North Kashmir Baramulla constituency.

However, soon after Faesal’s post, people across India started to comment on his post. Check out their reactions:

South Kashmir – comprising four districts – Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian – has been on the boil ever since the killing of terror group Hizbul Mujahideen’s poster boy Burhan Wani in July 2016. Security officials also believe that around 130 foreign terrorists were still active in the Kashmir Valley who were mainly tasked to impart training to local youths.
